They were 26 hours late getting to Halifax, but the St. John’s Privateers are ready to go at the 2nd Annual East Coast IceJam in Halifax, Nova Scotia. Their Wednesday morning flight was cancelled and they sat on the tarmac for two hours Thursday morning before finally getting into Halifax at 11:00am local time. They’re getting set to take on the Kensington Wild in their first game at9:30 tonight (10 PM in Newfoundland).

They will then play two games on Friday, meeting the Cape Breton Tradesmen at 11:30am (noon) before finishing out the round robin at 10:30pm (11PM) against the Pictou County Weeks Crushers.

The Privateers haven’t played since dropping a pair of games against the Western Kings December 14th and 15th, but come into Halifax after having three hard practices in the days leading up to the trip.

With 16 of the 20 teams in the tournament making the playoffs, the Privateers will look to make the playoff round at this event for the second year in a row and make it further than their round of 16 exit last season when they dropped an overtime decision to the Miramichi Rivermen.
