Gander Flyers Win Against the Cee Bees

The new edition to the Newfoundland and Labrador Senior Hockey League (NLSHL), the Gander Flyers, squeaked a win against the Conception Bay Cee Bee Stars in Sunday’s action, their third of the season.

The Flyers jumped out to an early 1-0, hanging on to take their lead into the dressing room after one period.

The Cee Bees battled back to even the score at 1-1 on goal by Jamie Tobin.  The Flyers regained the lead when Chad Locke scored on the power play to make the score 2-1.  Keith Delaney scored on the power play to even the score at 2-2 but the Gander Flyers hard work paid dividends when Tyler Whitehead scored for the Gander Flyers putting them up 3-2.  Fred Earle again evened the score for Conception Bay team scoring to make it 3-3 after two-periods.

Ray Dalton put the Cee Bees ahead 4-3 in the third but Steve Pearson evened the score at four before Jordan Scott scored a power play marker making it 5-4 for the Flyers.  Robert Slaney evened the score with a goal for the Cee Bees before the flyers went on a 5-3 power play after a major penalty was assessed to the Cee Bees Kenny for checking from behind.

The Flyers scored making it 6-5, hanging on for the win.
