The Bell Island Family Drug Mart Blues bounced back from a Friday night loss in a big way Saturday. Taking to home ice for the last time in 2012 the Blues had a little extra jump in their step, they scored early and often en route to a 6-3 win. Steven Richards added his team leading 7th and 8th goals of the season while Mark Burton , Dan Noftle, Andrew Coates and Chris Hammond added singles. Hammond’s goal, his first of the season capped off a 3 point night giving him 7 points in his last 3 games. Andrew Coates chipped in with 3 assists for his first career 4 point game giving him 8 points in 9 games this season.

Steve Gear got the nod in net and picked up his 2nd win of the season making 19 saves, 7 of which came in the third period many while the game was still in reach for Mount Pearl.

Neither team managed to connect with the man advantage with the Blues going 0-4 and the Samurai going 0-5. The win means the Blues have earned at least a point in 5 straight weekends and sends the Blues into the Christmas break with a 5-6-1 record, leaving them just 1 point out of second place. The Blues return to action at home on Saturday January 5th against the St. John’s Caps. They are a perfect 2-0 against the Caps on home ice this season.
